When a blind man sees again | A short free verse philosophical poem

I wrote this poem to further elaborate on two complementary perspectives of the quotation “when a blind man sees again”. While the phrase may not necessarily resonate with everyone, I found that it had a profound meaning and can be interpreted in different ways.

When a blind man sees again

When a blind man sees again,

A world – once nothing but a mystery,

An entire phase of life, now cast to history,

And in those books, a timbered staff lies-

The one standing during the lows and highs.

Rose coloured glasses now undone with clarity,

He brought her freedom, truth and reality.

When a blind man sees again,

The first act: the walking sticks disdain,

When a blind man sees again,

The first thing he does is throw away the walking stick

that helped him all his life.
